BSG is the top timeshifted program of 2009

Nielsen, those TV ratings people, just came out with their Top 10 lists of 2009, and surprise, surprise ... while sci-fi shows couldn't crack the "Top 10 TV Programs," Battlestar Galactica is the number-one "timeshifted" prime-time TV program of the year, with increased viewing of a whopping 59.4 percent.

Time-travel movie next for Bowie's director son, Duncan Jones?

Fresh off his British Independent Film Award wins for Best Film and Best Debut Director this week for his low-budget mini-masterpiece Moon, Duncan Jones (formerly known as Zowie Bowie, son of rocker David Bowie) is gearing up to tackle the SF thriller Source Code. According to a Tweet from Production Weekly, Jones will start pre-production in a few weeks and will film this spring in Montreal.

News briefs: Eclipse goes IMAX, new Toy pics

Twilight fans, get ahold of yourselves: Variety reports that the third film in the franchise, Eclipse, will be getting the IMAX treatment. Vampires and werewolves get to show off their wide-screen abs and sparkles. Eclipse opens June 30, 2010.

Moviefone posted a first-look image (see above, trailer below) of next summer's 3-D Toy Story 3. (This 3-D thing is really catching on, ain't it?) This time around, the toys (having been abandoned by a grown-up, college-aged Andy) must survive living at a daycare center. It's up to Woody to find them a new home. Toy Story 3 opens June 18, 2010.

CBS is developing a new drama, Murmurs, wherein time travel is possible. The Hollywood Reporter says that the show centers on the Commission, an agency that detects and corrects alterations in time called "murmurs," ensuring that history remains unchanged.

The season-one DVD of Defying Gravity (or should we call it "The Complete Series," since it's been canceled?) will arrive on Jan. 19, 2010, with five never-before-seen episodes. Defying Gravity stars Ron Livingston.

U.S. zombie fans to be denied Romero's latest?

So, in a world in which Zombieland grosses $75 million in the U.S. alone and zombie-themed video games generate entire industries, when the animated Resident Evil: Degeneration gets a pretty healthy release on DVD and Blu-ray, why can't George Romero, the guy who created the apocalyptic flesh-eating zombie genre in 1968 with his Night of the Living Dead, not even get a DVD release in the U.S. for his latest zombie movie, Survival of the Dead?
